Client: Seattle Indian Health Board
Provided grantwriting services for an application to the Washington State Department of Commerce’s Building Communities Fund for the Health Board’s acquisition and renovation of the Leschi Center. We assessed the requirements, drafted the application for approval in the required online form, and submitted it. At Commerce’s suggestion, we worked with the Health Board to revise the application to show community contributions through in-kind donations. The Health Board plans to add another floor to the building to bring all its programs into the same location and expand services. (2014)
Results: The request was successful. The Building Communities Fund Program Advisory Board recommended $1 million (more than the $750,000 requested!); the Governor included it in his Capital Budget to the Legislature; and the Legislature included it in the final budget.
