Client: Thrive by Five Washington
Served as a co-facilitator of a 51-member steering committee guiding the development of the state’s redesigned and updated Guidelines, and led editorial work. Facilitated planning meetings of sponsoring agencies: Washington State Department of Early Learning, Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction, and Thrive by Five Washington. Developed schedules for the steering committee and three subcommittees, helped design agendas and facilitated decision making. Facilitated the subcommittee charged with developing the Guidelines’ content; coordinated the work of content experts; compiled and edited text; and sought and edited personal stories and quotations. Supervised outreach and two rounds of public review. Produced draft text for committee review, and draft text and layout for public review; reviewed public comments from 26 groups and more than 200 individuals, and suggested revisions in response; and worked with a graphic designer to produce draft and final layouts. The Guidelines are a statewide resource for everyone who loves, cares for and educates children from birth through 3rd grade. They offer information on children’s growth and learning by age group, and suggestions for ways adults can help support and enhance this development. (2011 – 2012)
Results: The steering committee recommended the Guidelines document, and the three co-sponsor agencies approved it. The Department of Early Learning is disseminating the Guidelines in hard copy and online. View link [1].
