Our team worked with the Seattle Community Colleges, community-based organizations, neighborhood groups, legislators and state agencies to create a “community health college and innovation center” at the iconic Pacific Tower on Beacon Hill in Seattle. The center will increase the number of health care professionals trained by the colleges, add several new programs including bachelor programs in nursing and allied health, and provide space for a wide range of health and education-related nonprofits at affordable lease rates. The lease payments will go to the Pacific Hospital Preservation and Development Authority, which will use the proceeds to make grants to improve the health of disadvantaged populations in King County. (2012 – 2013) (See also project for Washington State Department of Commerce.)
Results: In November 2013, the State Department of Commerce and the Public Development Authority signed a 30-year lease agreement, with the state leasing about three-quarters of the building. View link to Seattle Times story.
