Assisted in developing two multimillion dollar grant applications to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, one in the field of nutrition, and one in smoking cessation, as part of a national effort called Communities Putting Prevention to Work. (2009)
Results: Both grant applications succeeded in winning CDC grants. Public Health – Seattle & King County, in turn, awarded grants in July 2010 totaling $8.9 million to fund projects of school districts, community-based organizations and local governments to improve nutrition and physical activity, and decrease tobacco use and exposure.
