Client: King County, WA
Served as facilitator of a 28-member stakeholder task force appointed by the County Council. The task force was charged with developing a policy framework to guide transit service investments or, if needed, contraction, over the next 10 years. Worked with staff between meetings to plan meeting topics and materials, and to identify concerns to be addressed. Prepared meeting plans, agendas and summaries; summary of initial discussions with task force members; meeting ground rules; and draft and final report and recommendations. The task force’s recommendations included: adopting new performance measures; continuing to find operating efficiencies; and changing the policy direction for making service reduction and growth decisions to one based on productivity, social equity and geographic value throughout the county. (2010)
Results: The task force unanimously approved the final report. The Regional Transit Task Force Final Report and Recommendations (October 2010) were presented to the County Council and County Executive in November 2010. Metro and King County are taking action on all the task force recommendations. The Municipal League recognized the task force’s work with the 2011 James R. Ellis Regional Leadership Award.
