Client: City of Seattle
Planned and facilitated stakeholder workshops in 16 neighborhoods designated as Urban Villages, coordinate logistics, and wrote summaries of results. The workshops gathered community members’ comments on proposed zoning changes to implement Mandatory Housing Affordability (MHA) policy (to ensure that growth will include affordable housing). Presented the results to the City Council to inform their policy decisions. (2016 – 2017)
Results: The workshops engaged more than 1500 residents in a highly interactive format. City posted online summaries [1] and discussion table notes from each workshop, along with Urban Village maps annotated to show residents’ comments. City Council adopted proposed upzones and affordable housing requirements for six neighborhoods in 2017 and will consider upzones in the other neighborhoods in 2018.
